Who We Are

We welcome everyone as children of God.

We believe everyone is worthy of dignity, respect and love.

We celebrate everyone and their unique gifts.

God

We believe there is one true and living God who is eternal, holy, all-powerful and ever-present. God is the maker and preserver of all things, both what is seen and what isn’t.

Jesus

We believe Jesus is the one and only Son of God — the Word that became flesh to teach us how to love and align our hearts with God. He was crucified and died, was buried for three days and then rose and ascended into Heaven.

Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is at work in the world and in our lives today. It transforms, empowers and guides believers. Through the Holy Spirit, we experience the fruit of the Spirit and spiritual gifts.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and the primary source for personal discipleship. It is viewed through the lens of Tradition, Experience and Reason to inform our faith and interpret Scripture.

Grace

We believe in three stages of Grace:

Prevenient - Grace at work in our world drawing ALL to God.

Justifying - Grace that realigns our relationship with God through our faith in Jesus.

Sanctifying - Grace that continues to work within us, allowing us to grow in our ability to live like Jesus.

Sacraments

United Methodists observe two sacraments: Baptism and Communion.

Baptism is an outward and visible sign of God’s prevenient grace (see above). It is available for people of all ages, from infants to adults.

Communion is an open table available to all who love Jesus and desire to change their hearts and lives to be like Him — seeking to love, be the light, cultivate unity and build community.

People

All people are created in the image of God. Each person is sacred, loved deeply by God and is gifted by the Holy Spirit. We are all called to share these gifts in community.

Guiding Scripture

Matthew 22:37-39 “You must love the Lord, your God with all your heart, with all your being and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: You must love your neighbor as yourself.”

(Common English Bible)

John Wesley

John Wesley is the founder of the Methodist movement. The United Methodist Church was birthed from his understandings of the Bible. He reminds us we have individual and social responsibilities to:

Do No Harm;

Do Good;

Stay in Love With God.
